Les Serraz

This was our third visit to Les Serraz and its magic was as special as ever. Our friends Kit and Mike own this old French farmhouse, situated about an hour from Geneva and at 850 metres, just at the snow level of the French Alps.

Most of you are aware that where I live in SE Queensland, our seasons are basically summer and winter. There are very few indications of each season changing. I dream of being able to spend a year somewhere, where I can see this happening. The timing of our visit here was perfect for autumn colour. I had returned to 'heaven' and delighted in the green, yellow and gold vistas, as we drove to the farm. On our arrival at the farm, my happiness new no bounds, as I rushed around photographing these wonderful colours and rustic scenes.

In our few days here we saw sunshine, fog, frost and snow!

Bedroom view of the fields.

Is that snow? Alas, we are about to drive to Lyon for the night and could only enjoy the falling flakes for a short time.
I can't believe that I don't look more ecstatic. The cameraman was so slow.
A wonderful fireplace to warm up by.

How quickly the fog comes in. Going into the local fromagerie.
Leaving 15 mins later.
We also visited and assisted at the local chevrerie.

On our last morning, the fog lifted in time for us to soak up this glorious view, one more time.
Final special moments before our departure.

Kit and Mike drove us back to Geneva via the autobarn. It was fascinating to look down and recognise where we had driven with Nic. At Geneva we took the train to Murren, in the Bernese Oberland.

I would loved to have stayed longer on the farm but Murren was calling. Would our luck hold with the weather? Would the Alps be in sunshine or cloud? The answer is coming soon.
I would love to read your comment.
